15 Horsepower ACME Steam Engine Start Up after 50 Years of Sitting
These days, a 15hp engine might be something that you could almost fit in your pocket but as you could probably imagine that wasn’t always the case. These days, technology has most certainly managed to take larger components and shrink them down to a more usable size.
This time, though, you check out an antique steam engine produced by ACME that is bigger than most modern engines and was mounted sturdily to the ground to create power for what could have been a variety of different application back in its useful life.
As we know, many steam engines were put to use in the form of transportation, getting people along on the water, on rails, or even on the roads but something like this probably would have been used as some sort of mining aid or perhaps a water pump to extract water from an abundant source.
From what we’re told, this bad boy hasn’t been run in over 50 years, but after being torn down and oiled, it managed to fire right back up again and chug away until it’s heart was content. This just goes to show you that they really don’t make them like they used to!
