1650 HP Mazda RX7 “The Sleeper”, Scary and Funny Moments from NRE
Nelson Racing Engines has built a Mazda RX7 they’ve dubbed “The Sleeper”, for cruising and sneaking up on unsuspecting hotrods while out tooling around town. While the big tires out back and the rear wing may give some hint of the car being reasonably quick, there’s little chance of a anybody suspecting the car has 1,650 horsepower on tap, but it does!
With a 427 CID small block lying in wait, tucked neatly under the hood and being force-fed air from the twin turbochargers, the Maxda is more than capable of laying down endless black marks and putting the whoop on almost any other car that may cross its path. The car has been in the 8’s in the quarter, yet you can cruise along at 70 MPH on the interstate at a relatively tame 2,000 RPM.
All in all, this is one badass sleeper, and we can’t wait to see some kill vids from NRE!
