1966 Chevrolet Suburban Restomod Project – Insane Build of the Lime Crush Suburban

There are countless shops that turn out awesome custom rides, but when it comes to next-level, totally custom, and completely unique builds, few shops can match the track record of The Roadster Shop in Mundelein, Illinois.

If you need proof, look no further than the video below, and extensive look inside the build of this gorgeous 1966 Chevrolet Suburban owned by the Accel Performance Group, or APG. The Suburban came to The Roadster Shop in reasonably good shape, but the crew knew to build the type of ride that APG was looking for, they had to start with a blank slate, so the first order of business was stripping the family hauler down to the bare sheetmetal, leaving nothing but the naked body waiting for the skilled hands of the TRS crew to get to work.

Starting at the bottom and working their way up, the TRS team smoothed and tucked the bumpers to clean up the leading and trailing lines a bit, and also reshaped the wheel openings to better accentuate the large wheels and tires they had in store. Moving upward, a custom hood, shaved door handles, and one piece, flush-mounted glass all give the Suburban and subtle but effective custom look that the custom-mixed lime green paint really brings to life.

Under the hood, and gorgeous smoothed firewall keeps the focus on the Chevrolet Performance ZZ502 crate engine, cranking out a healthy 502 horsepower to motivate the Suburban to get out of its own way rather quickly.

The build features as many of APG’s components as possible and really stands out thanks in part to that retina-searing green paint and the Billet Specialties wheels. Hit the play button below and watch this amazing build come together in just a few short minutes. Thanks to DIY Garage for sharing this video, and thanks to The Roadster Shop and Accel Performance Group for letting us have this great look behind the scenes as this project came together.
