1970 Ford F-350 Swapped With Components From 1997 Ford, And Powered By 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel

With this being the week after SEMA, we’ve been flooded with countless videos of custom rides that were built just for the show, many of which are insanely cool. This truck, however, might be the coolest one we’ve seen and it wasn’t even a SEMA build.

This custom build started life as 2 separate trucks, a 1970 Ford F-350 and a 1997 Ford F-350. Using a lot of both trucks, the builder created one very well thought-out project that has the fit and finish of a factory stock truck despite being built from trucks with over 2 decades between their build dates.

The exterior is all 1970’s, and it’s a beautiful body too. The 70’s brought us some of the best looking cars and trucks to ever roll off a showroom floor, and the body on this truck looks like it could have rolled of yesterday. The gorgeous red paint is flawless and all the trim is in place, giving the Ford a look of completion.

Underneath, the suspension is upgraded, but not over-the-top. The truck has been lifted a few inches, enough to clear the big tires with a little fender gap remaining, but not jacked up just for the sake of being higher off the ground. It also sits level, which is a big deal for me, despite the current trend I see of trucks sitting lower in the rear.

The factory feel continues into the interior, where the dash and instrument panel from the 1970 model has been replaced with the dash from the 1997 pickup, complete with fully-functioning warning lights, gauges and even the period-correct radio receiver. Everything looks perfectly stock, as if it were built that way, and that continues under the hood as well, where a 7.3 liter Powerstroke lies, looking perfectly at home.

The truck looks and sounds great, and with such amazing attention to detail, certainly deserves to be invited to SEMA next year! Maybe we can make that happen so we can check it out in person.
