2015 BMW M3: Restoring the Faith, BMW M is Back!
On this video episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago heads to a rain soaked Road America to test the limits of the all new BMW M3! Reworked from the ground up, the 2015 M3 ditches the screaming V8 of the last generation for an all new twin turbocharged inline six producing 425hp and 406lb-ft of twisting force. To give you some perspective that is only a mere 9hp more than it’s predecessor, but as Carroll Shelby once said: “Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races”. This new M3 has a 111 ft/lb of tire twisting torque improvement over the previous model.
The New 2015 BMW M3 shares a lot with it’s big brother the BMW M5 which give it the feeling of driving a baby M5. For starters they use the same rear differential and sub frame style. They also use the same transmission and gear ratios as the M5. This thing BMW designed to outperform its predecessor in every measurable way, has the M3 become numb in its quest for higher performance, or will it deliver on its promise of being the best driving M yet?
The numbers show:
0-60 Time of 3.9 Seconds
1/4 time of 12.2 @117.3mph
60-0 in 99 feet
Lateral G of .99
