2019 ZR1 Corvette SLOW? Manual Corvette ZR1 in Civilian Hands – 1/4 mile
Whenever a performance machine comes out, all of the magazines and the manufacturers alike are going to test them out to see exactly how they do in a variety of performance applications. After testing them out, we will be fed some numbers that allow us to see how the cars are going to stack up against a variety of others.
However, these numbers are to be taken with a grain of salt because you never really know what conditions were in play the day of the testing and the drivers are likely to be professionals. After all, it’s more likely than not that, as a consumer, you aren’t a professional and are curious to see what a car like the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 would do in your hands.
This time, we head down to Cecil County Dragway to check out the scene as a manually shifted ZR1 goes head to head with a Porsche GT3RS, a car that has proven again and again that it’s to be respected in pretty much any racing application, including the quarter-mile. However, we have some faith in the Corvette as it is more of a traditional drag racing machine than the Porsche, even though the designers probably were considering twisties more than straight lines when they had designed both of them.
If you follow along with the cars in the video below, Road Test TV takes us to the scene of this battle of import and domestic to see which one of these cars is going to take the crown and see just how the new Corvette is going to do in the hands of your regular, everyday driver, when using a stick shift application. I guess that, after this one, the battle of automatic versus manual is really going to rage on in comment sections across the internet.
