2019 ZR1 Hits 150 MPH In 4th Gear!
In completely stock form, the 2019 ZR1 Corvette is a monster. We’ve already seen stock versions running deep into the 10’s and now we have one of the premier tuners in the nation showing that they have one in their arsenal, meaning it’s only matter of time before this one is stock no more.
The team at Latemodel Racecraft has built some of the most badass LS-based hotrods in the nation, and now they have their very on ZR1 to work their magic on. But before they crack open the supercharged 6.2 liter engine and begin their modification process, they strapped their gorgeous dark grey ZR1 onto their in-house dyno to get some baseline numbers.
With the 7-speed manual dropped into 4th gear, the driver ran up through the RPM’s to see how much horsepower the LT5 sends to the tires. We are treated to several views of the pull, including the interior view that offers us some insight into what kind of speeds the car is capable of in 4th gear, and how quickly it gets there.
When the hammer is dropped, the speed climbs rapidly from 50 to nearly 150, topping out the tach at redline just as the speedometer nears the 150 MPH mark. With three full gears remaining above that, it’s easy to see why this car is capable of some insane numbers on both the track and the highway, if one were to be so inclined to top it out on some deserted stretch of highway.
With the initial pulls completed, we see that the car puts out a very solid 627 horsepower to the wheels with just under 600 ft/lbs of torque as well. Those numbers support the factory claims of 755 horsepower and 715 ft/lbs if you factor in drivetrain losses and dyno variances.
Not to wait and see what the guys at LMR have in store for their ride. They could very well be the first shop in the nation to have a ZR1 cranking out 4-digit horsepower numbers to the wheels. The race to a thousand ponies is on!
