2JZ Powered “Evil 86” – 1210HP Toyota FRS
If you have spent any amount of time around me automotive aftermarket, you probably started to drool just a little bit when you saw that the Scion FRS platform made its way onto the market as a lightweight, rear wheel drive set up. You can probably see where we’re going with this by now.
Of course, with such components already in place, when the price drops just a touch, people will be scrambling to shove just about every single powerplant into these things that you can imagine. This time, we get to check out a monster of a build in “Evil 86,” a Scion FRS powered by a 1.5JZ.
Hold up, did he just say 1.5JZ? Yup! Basically, the concept here is that a 2JZ bottom end would be built and used in combination with a built 1JZ head, giving birth to the 1.5JZ which would breathe a little bit better thanks to the help of a Precision 7685 Gen 2 turbo. With the amount of power that this thing is laying down, we’d be inclined to say that it is breathing rather well.
Get a load of the build in its entirety down in the video below and take the time to try and appreciate every little detail that has gone into making this spool monster something to admire. If you could drop anything that you wanted into this platform, what powerplant would you choose?
