6 Immortal Cars That Have Gone Over 1 Million Miles
There are two distinct schools of thoughts on vehicle usage; those who pamper their car and try to keep the miles down and those who buy a car and drive it like it was meant to be driven. In this video, we are introduced to six cars from the latter, a group of cars and a truck that have all topped the fabled million-mile mark.
What immediately stands out about these mileage masters is how incredibly clean they are, given the piles of miles on the odometers. From Peter Gilbert’s ’89 Saab 900 to Hugh Pennington’s 2006 Chevrolet pickup, each of these vehicles have been meticulously maintained, surely a huge factor in their incredible longevity. And with the exception of Pennington’s pickup – only because it’s too new and a pickup truck – each of these cars would be equally at home in a car show corral as they are burning up the highway.
While any vehicle surviving to reach 7-digits on the odometer is an incredible feat, even this group has its obvious standout: Irv Gordon’s 1966 Volvo P1800s has surpassed the million mile mark not once, not twice, but three times. Gordon already held the Guinness world record at 1.69 million miles in an originally-owned vehicle, but he’s gone on to nearly double that total in the same car. It stands to reason, this Volvo could forever be the high-mileage champion, as it will be hard to imagine any car racking up the miles needed to take the crown.
