70-Year-Old Blackhawk Hydraulic Jack Restored With Astonishing Detail

In a lot of cases, it seems like they just don’t make tools the wayt that they used to. Sure, there are a lot of advancements today that make machinery a lot easier and more useful. However, when it comes to simple tools, there is really something to be said about old school durability. We would be willing to wager that the vast majority of garages around the country have some sort of old-school equipment that just won’t give up.

This time, we take the opportunity to tune into a restoration of one of these old school components. It comes in the form of a 70-year-old Blackhawk hydraulic jack. On the outside, the jack showcases a little bit of wear and tear. By the amount of grease built up on this thing, we can tell that it has definitely seen some use over the years.

It’s unclear if this piece was decommissioned or if the person behind it just wanted to restore it. The one thing that we know for sure is that the jack was going to get a bit of a facelift.

First thing’s first and that’s getting the jack apart. This means disassembling it down to the nuts and bolts. From there, a little bit of cleaning would be in order. Afterward, perhaps the most intricate part of this process would be the machine work. It’s mesmerizing to watch as some of the components we reworked just a little bit in order to make sure that they could be in tiptop condition. The final step before reassembling it all is getting a nice coat of paint on the unit.

When all is said and done, the jack is looking like new again! It’s absolutely mesmerizing to watch this thing come together with the craftsmanship that this YouTuber, ACME Restorations, puts in place. We would be willing to bet that the hydraulic jack will be good to be used for another 70 years now!
