DRAG RACE – Supercar v Hypercar
Sorry if we let the cat out of the bag, but this race it pretty one sided. It truly shows the difference in a “supercar” vs. a “hypercar”.
The guys from popular YouTube page “TheSUPERCARDRIVER” hopped in a Ferrari F355 Spider and went head to head with Oliver Webb in the Supervettura Koenigsegg CCX during Hypermax. This video truly demonstrates the raw power the Koenigsegg has.
Ferrari 355 Spider Facts
Apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 L, the major difference between the V8 engine in the 348 and F355 is the introduction of a 5-valve cylinder head. This new head design allowed for better intake permeability and resulted in an engine that was considerably more powerful, producing 375 hp. The longitudinal 90° V8 engine was bored 2mm over the 348’s engine (85 mm rather than 83 mm), resulting in the small increase in displacement. Engine internals are produced using lightweight materials; the connecting rods are forged in Ti6-Al-4V titanium alloy.
The Koenigsegg
The CCX was unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, sporting body modifications to meet US regulations and a new 4.7 L twin supercharged V8 engine capable of producing 795 hp at 7000 rpm and 679 lb·ft at 5700 rpm of torque while running on 91 octane gasoline. There were 14 CCXs produced between 2006 and 2010.
Even though this race is one sided, it gives a very good perspective on the difference in the two car classes and the improvements over the years in technology. Watch it here.
