Dale Earnhardt Jr is forced to sit out 2 races, team decided to repaint his car
Nobody likes to see an injury in racing. Even though the competitive juices get flowing in the most cut throat way possible, we would venture to say that just about nobody wants to see their competition get hurt.
Unfortunately, Dale Jr. got wrapped up in a little something that would keep him on the sidelines and away from the action.
“Just yesterday the doctors attending to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s continued struggle to overcome some symptoms related to concussions sustained during a crash did not sign off on his highly anticipated return to the track.” –CountryRebel.com
Even though Jr. had no choice but to sit it out, he wouldn’t remain idle as the team has been hard at work and he decided to share some of that work with the fans.
Even though Jr. will be out for another pair of races, the fill-in for those races will be behind the wheel of a brand new and exciting paint scheme on the number 88 that will be seeing a limited run in just one race.

The effort here is brought about by the team’s sponsor Axalta who went hand in hand with the University of Michigan to support the engineering and business students, coatings research, and other ventures that helped to put together the paint scheme.
If you want to see these colors in action, you can see them flying around the track at the upcoming NASCAR Pure Michigan 400.
The video below shows the incident that led to the concussion that put Jr. out in the first place. If we were fans of betting, we’d put our money on Dale being ready and raring to get back behind the wheel again.
