Simple Trick Show You How To Fix Peeling Clear Coat in 5 Minutes!
Unless you work hard to take good care of it, there’s a real good chance that your clear coat will, at some point, begin to break down and peel. While many will tell you that this means the affected body panels have to be repainted, this video proves otherwise. Not only does it save you the hassle of having your vehicle down for a while, it’s a heck of a lot cheaper.
Using an all-metal polish, you can return the peeling clear coat to a pre-fade shine that will, at the very least, push back the time before it needs to be painted. Simply rub a little of the polish on the panel, then hit it with an orbital polisher until the shine begins to show again. At that point, the panel should look much better, but will still need a little more protection, so you then need to apply a wax to seal things up nicely and protect it from the elements.
Apply your wax of choice using a polishing pad and carefully wax the affected area, using large swooping circles and a light touch to keep from burning the paint. After that, you’ll want to wax the whole car to blend in the repaired area with the rest of the paint so nobody will be any wiser about the repair work. This kind of repair is relatively easy, but it certainly helps to have had a little experience in paint repair. All of these products are available off the shelf at any auto parts store, including the buffer and pads used to apply the products.
This is just one of many things you can do to extend the life of your paint, as well as keeping your car looking great. Of course, a regular cleaning schedule, including waxing regularly, will keep the factory clear coat looking great and eliminate the need for these steps to ever be taken, so you can always take that approach as well.
