This GMC Mega Truck Goes HUGE! Jumping over 8 Mega Trucks and a Rock Bouncer!
Scott Green, owner and driver of the Sail mega truck, has built himself quite a reputation for taking, and landing, some massive jumps in his truck. HIs latest stunt is his biggest jump to date and has gotten all kinds of buzz in the off-roading community.
Green, who is based out of Milstadt, Illinois, travels the country to some of the biggest, rowdiest off-road events, looking for any opportunity to get behind the wheel of his mega truck. The truck, dubbed “Sail” almost certainly due to the amount of time it spends in the air, is a 1993 GMC 1500, or at least that’s what it started as. There isn’t too much of the original truck left, though, as it’s been beefed up from top to bottom with a jungle gym of chassis and suspension bars, all of which serve to stiffen the truck and make it survive these insane jumps and devastatingly hard landings. The massive pickup is powered by a 468” big block mounted behind the cab for better balance and sends power out to the massive wheels and tires via a TH400 transmission. As you will see in the video below, the truck has some insane shocks that look to be 3 feet tall or so and each likely cost as much as a stock 1993 GMC, but that’s what is required when you constantly take the truck off of these huge jumps.
This jump, which took place in Saint Jo, Texas at the perfectly named Rednecks with Paychecks event, would be Scott’s biggest stunt to date, jumping over a total of 8 mega trucks in his own gnarly pickup. With a running start and nerves of steel, Scott hit the massive dirt ramp and, quite literally, sailed over the lineup of truck below, clearing them with ease before returning to earth with a fairly hard impact. While the landing broke the GoPro mount inside, that looks to be the only casualty of the huge jump, a testament to the strength of the truck’s chassis and suspension.
