Spare Tire Stretch On a Full Size Rim… But Why?
Just because you can doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. It seems like recently, that the unsafe trend of taking a tire that’s designed for a certain size wheel and stretching it beyond a reasonable measure to fit an even wider wheel, so that the edge of the wheel pokes out a little bit, is becoming really common. No matter how safe or unsafe it’s deemed to be, that isn’t going to stop the crowd that runs these things from doing their thing and fitting them to their cars to make sure that they have the exact look that they set out to achieve.
Sometimes, the practice that’s known as “stretching tires” isn’t that extreme. A lot of times, you might not even notice that a tire is stretched at all but this time, we watch as a shop sets out to make sure that everybody within a 5 mile radius knows that these tires are as stretched as they could possibly be as they take a tire that is probably fit for not much more than a spare wheel. The result, well, we will let you judge the end product for yourself.
If you follow along in the video below, we get the rundown of exactly how this process is carried out. I think that it goes without saying that this one is for entertainment purposes only and that you probably shouldn’t go about trying this one at home. After tuning in to exactly how all this works, be sure to tell us what you think of the process of tire stretching and how you think this rubber is going to cooperate with the road underneath of it when push comes to shove and it’s time to make an emergency maneuver.
