Massive Airforce Plane Lands On Wrong Airstrip!
If you had a pick one field where everything seems to be well calculated and people don’t mess around with taking chances, that would be the field of aviation. It just seems like, with such a high risk here, that there’s no room to make guesses or leave anything up to chance. It also seems like an area where everything is so tight that it’s difficult for a pilot to make a mistake with a wide margin.
This time, we check out a situation where things seem to have just gotten a little bit mixed up and backward as a 400,000-pound military cargo plane touched down at a small airport. On the surface, it might not seem like such a big issue as you would think that the plane would just take off again but things wouldn’t pan out that simply. This is certainly a much bigger issue than it would appear to be on the surface.
With an airstrip that’s capable of only holding 20,000 pounds, just 5% of the weight of the plane that landed there, and having a rather short strip to take off of, these folks were tasked with some rather complicated problems that stood in the way of this plane making its way to its destination which wasn’t too far away. Lots of calculation had to be done before anyone could decide if it would be safe to have the plane take off once again.
Check out the video below to see exactly what it is that one is supposed to do in a situation like this when it seems like an answer is just too far away to physically grasp. It’s said that the incident was basically attributed to crew exhaustion and time zone changes. Eventually, the craft would be able to lift back off again to complete the rest of its original flight plan.
