Why Do Horsepower And Torque Cross At 5,252 RPM?

Across the landscape of automotive performance, there are a lot of pieces of information that you can come to know and when you start figuring out a lot of different areas of the spectrum, eventually, you can start building them together and painting a bigger picture as you can begin to understand how a complete car works. A lot of the time, this information might fit together very nicely, like a puzzle, but other times, it may be a situation where a sort of anomaly will pop up, a piece of information that doesn’t really seem to make sense but eventually, as you learn more about it, you’ll probably deduce that it actually does fit somewhere into that aforementioned puzzle, after all.

This time, thanks to the Engineering Explained YouTube channel, we’re able to get our hands on one of those odd pieces of information and learn a little bit more about it to see exactly why it might not be so odd, after all. It might be something that you never even noticed after all of this time around cars, however, whenever you put a car on the dyno to lay down a couple of pulls to see just how much horsepower and torque the car can create, a small phenomenon happens each time. Both of these lines that depict your car’s performance metrics cross at 5252 RPM. Now, why in the world would that be?

Well, if you follow along down the video below, you’ll learn little bit more about this phenomenon that really makes a lot of sense when you know the backstory behind it. Otherwise, this could potentially just seem like one great big coincidence but the numbers really don’t lie and, as some people will tell you, there’s not really much of anything that actually is a coincidence, at least when it comes to different engineering concepts like this one.
