Car Crashes, Close Calls, and Wheelies At Street Outlaws Live
While these events were being filmed throughout the past few months, they were billed as “Street Outlaws Live”, but we would come to find out later that Discovery Channel actually filming the Street Outlaws spin-off, No Prep Kings. As we all know, the nature of no prep racing tends to lead to thrills and spills even for the most experienced drivers and well-built cars, and YouTuber Tomeighty caught a whole collection of crashes, near-misses, wheelstand, and explosions from the stands at several the events he attended.
Some of these are pretty gnarly impacts, but most are pretty light, relatively speaking, leaving mostly body damage and maybe some bent bars in the body support structure. There are also several incredible saves that kept car and driver just barely out of the wall.
These events drew massive crowds because, if we’re being honest here, everybody likes to see a crash. It may seem morbid or macabre, but the chance of seeing a car pushed too far and slamming the wall, or worse, is definitely a big part of what drew these massive crowds that shut down highways and packed stands from coast to coast. They’ve tried to keep the results low key, but with the proliferation of the smartphone, these crashes were often uploaded to social media before the cars were back in the pits.
However, that didn’t stop the show from being a hit in its first few episodes, drawing many fans from the original show as well as a host of new ones thanks to their reach with the live events. With the original show continuing to grow and the spin-offs gaining traction as well, we could be witnessing the beginning of a legitimate dynasty. And to think, all of this started with a bunch of guys street racing in Oklahoma City!
