840HP Dodge Demon vs Tesla Model S P100D 1/4 Mile Drag Racing

Dodge’s Challenger SRT Demon set the automotive world on fire las year when the mad scientists at FCA unleashed the car on the quarter mile and obliterated the quarter mile record for a production car. With everything on the car geared toward going as quick as possible through the 1320, the car launched to an otherworldly 9.64 quarter mile, and also became the first factory built car to pull the front tire upon launching at the track.

Thanks to all the hoopla surrounding the car, it immediately become the benchmark by which all other cars are judged, at least on the quarter mile. That is, after all, what happens when you go out and smash a record, then spread the word far and wide that you’re the new king in town. The thing about the Demon, though, is that while it’s a monster in totally stock form, there’s still a lot of untapped potential inside that 840 horsepower HEMI powerplant, but Dodge has to consider all things when building a car, like the warranty and government regulations, so although completely built around quarter mile badassness, it’s still a bit collared thanks to big brother.

Despite that, the car has done amazingly well so far, and keep in mind, it’s still very early in the Demon’s life, comparatively speaking. Many owners are still waiting on their cars to arrive at the dealership, and very few have taken steps to actually mod the car, although there is at least one that’s already knocked three tenths of a second off the “impossible” numbers – as many haters have claimed – that the car ran in pre-release testing.

DragTimes has decided to put the car to the test, bringing out a gauntlet of other badass cars, all of which, by my best estimate, cost considerably more, to see if any of these rides can take down the Demon.

There’s a veritable murderer’s row of hotrods on deck to take their swings at the king, but do any of them have what it takes to turn on the win light? You’ll have to watch and see!
