Our Favorite Transformer Is Getting His Own Movie – Watch the Official BumbleBee Trailer!
Cars and movies tend to go hand in hand, especially when the movies involve cars. The Transformers franchise has been a favorite of car guys and gals around the world with its mix of large scale robot warfare and awesome cars used to represent the transformed state of said robots.
While Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots, there’s no denying ever car guy who’s watched any or all of the films in the franchise has a soft spot for BumbleBee. When the first film in the series launched, we met Bee as a beat up second gen Camaro, although we quickly learned that there was more to the Camaro than meets the eye (see what I did there?) when he transformed to into his humanoid robot form and surprised his owner and friend-to-be Sam.
Sam and Bee’s bond grew through the series of films, which have been massive global successes in theaters, but now it’s Bee’s time to step out on his own, and we couldn’t be more excited. We don’t have a ton of info, but we do have an official teaser trailer that gives us some insight into the movie, which is slated to drop late this year.
Starring Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie Watson, Bee is on the run from the Decepticons in the year 1987 when Charlie – nearing her 18th birthday – finds him as a worn out Beetle. As she works to revive the Bug, she finds out the truth about BumbleBee and the two are thrown into a full blown interplanetary battle for survival.
The movie has an estimated budget of $128 million, a massive bottom line to be certain, but the trailer looks awesome and we have no doubt the movie will draw in a massive audience around the world. There’s also a glimpse of WWE star John Cena in the trailer, and the credits list Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime, so look for your favorite flamed semi to be back as well.
