Reliving One of NASCAR’s Most Insane Crashes at Daytona w/ Realtime Crew Audio
In pretty much any form of racing, the threat of a potential crash is lurking somewhere of the horizon, however, when you consider NASCAR racing, the sport that puts dozens of cars together on the same surface, that threat becomes even more real. The thought of cars thundering at 200 mph while coming in the close proximity with one another really throws an extra element in the mix that you don’t really have in too many other forms of racing. That element is almost tangible as it has the ability to make the environment hot and explosive if you let it get away from you.
Because of that, the safety equipment that goes into these cars has really made some amazing strides to be better and because of that, drivers are able to survive through some pretty gruesome wrecks. To show just that, we flashback to just over two years ago as Austin Dillon ended up going through what might have been one of the craziest crashes in recent memory at any NASCAR race. After watching this one, I’m sure that plenty of people had in mind that there was no way that Austin was going to make it out of this one, however, when the dust would finally settle he would somehow manage to walk away.
If you follow along down in the video below, you’ll get a unique perspective of the incident as it’s replayed and you get to hear the audio from a whole variety of different sources who react to the moment in real-time. For anyone who is a fan of racing or even any person with a sense of humanity, this is definitely a scary situation to ride along with. It’s pretty incredible with how hard of a beating that car took, after flying sideways into the fence, and being broadsided by another car, that Austin somehow managed to live on to race another day and how that mangled mess of a racing machine truly protected his life.
It really doesn’t get any more intense than this in the world of racing.
