There’s A World Record For Partying On Boats And These Folks Tried To Break It!
If you’ve never heard of the practice of “rafting,” be prepared to be thrown to the wolves in one of the most extreme examples of rafting conceivable. Basically, the phenomenon is basically what happens when a couple of people who are looking to party tie their boats together in the name of a good time, creating a sort of mini barge that allows everybody on board to be able to enjoy one another’s company. So, how exactly can rafting go extreme?
Well, if you take for example this situation that took place in Muskamoot Bay off Lake St. Clair in Michigan earlier this month on August 11 to be exact, you get to see something that goes by the name of “The Gauntlet” which is basically an attempt to create a giant pool in between a whole bunch of rafting boats but that’s not where the journey stops. Instead of just creating this massive party pool, the people involved here attempt to create a record in the same fell swoop.
As thousands of boats joined together in order to attempt to crack this record, the footage that you see below is absolutely amazing to take a look at and is almost guaranteed to make you want to join. While there were plenty of boats, enough to actually break the record that they set out for, there was a slight discrepancy that wouldn’t allow this group to conquer that record after all.
You see, via the definition of rafting, all of the boats have to be tied together and with the record standing strong with over 1600 boats at 1651 to be exact, set in 2010 on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky, all of that organization can be a little bit much. Because there were a couple of boats with spaces in between them, even though numbers were there for the record, it wasn’t all one “raft” per se.
Because of these gaps in the line, the efforts for the record would be sunk and the boaters will be left to try again next year. There’s no reason to doubt that they’ll eventually be able to pull it off so keep an eye out to eventually see how it all goes down for them with the next attempt. As of now, though, I guess that everyone will have to settle for simply having a great time.
