Guy Driving Like An Idiot Loses Control, And Crashes Car. Lucky To Walk Away
I don’t think it’s any secret that all of us here at Speed Society are fans of “spirited driving”. It’s kind of what makes our world go ‘round, in fact. However, we’re also proponents of doing things in the right place at the right time, something that many others out there seem to overlook.
I can’t even begin to guess what type of car this is, but I can tell by the sound it’s a small displacement engine, almost certainly a four-cylinder of some kind. We see the driver with one hand on the aftermarket steering wheel and his other hand on the shifter, rowing through the gears at what appears to be a pretty high rate of speed.
The driver keeps his foot planted and the engine screaming as he changes gears, but just after the second gear change, things go from “spirited” to “oh s**t!” in the blink of an eye. There’s no obvious reason, but the car takes a sudden and unexpected detour from the center of the lane and things only get worse from there.
There’s a chance the driver accidentally stuck the shifter back into a lower gear, although it’s hard to say for sure exactly what went wrong. The car slides hard into the guardrail with enough force to cause the passenger side airbag to deploy, while obviously battering the front of the car and shattering the windshield.
The car continues to spin out of control, slinging the driver out of his seat and over between the two front seats, a dead giveaway that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of his unplanned altercation with the guardrail. However, once the car skids to a halt, it’s evident that the driver is walking away from this incident with a bruised ego, but no further injuries.
Watch until the end for the inexplicably humorous phone call that comes just as he exits the car. I can’t say exactly why, but that cracked me up!
