Kid Does Burnout While Driving Power Wheels Corvette
After watching this video several times now (seriously, like 6 or 7 at this point) I absolutely cannot figure out how this is possible. I’m hardly an expert in either power wheels performance or video manipulation, but I feel like one of the two needs to be brought in to determine how this was done.
We’ll start with the obvious. It’s no secret that power wheels cars and trucks can be modified to make more power than they come with from Toys R Us. We’ve seen that many times with tricked out cars and trucks both built to pop wheelies drift like nobody’s business. So the idea of one of these little rides doing donuts in a parking lot is totally plausible.
The tiresmoke, however, is the part I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around. Last time I checked, power wheels came with hard plastic wheels, which is a big part of the reason they’re so easy to drift once the power is juiced a bit. But plastic wheels/tires would just melt before they’d roll smoke like a rubber tire, so there has to be some type of compound on the rear tires to allow them to make smoke.
However, there’s a couple of problems with that idea. First of all, rubber tires leave marks when they’re spinning like this, and there are no visible tire tracks in this parking lot. Also, rubber tires would cause the little battery powered hotrod to have more traction, making it harder for the kiddo at the wheel to drift it, if it were even possible at all.
So, that leaves only the probability that this has been faked, but man is it an excellent manipulation. Whomever did this, my hat is off to you for your excellent work. I’d love to learn how to do this, but I’m not sure who to contact about singing up for classes.
