Man Crushed to Death by Car at Texas Salvage Yard
At some auto salvage yards, customers are able to pull parts off of vehicles themselves. This business model allows people to browse parts to check out condition before pulling it. The process will also allow the yard to save the money and space that it would take the remove and inventory every last part. Aside from the obvious liability, this seems like an optimal way to run this sort of business. There are, however, drawbacks with this idea as there would be with any business model.
While these yards can certainly be convenient, they’re incredibly dangerous as well. There are not only heavy vehicles and parts that can fall but sharp objects and countless other hazards as well. People who enter should operate with the most extreme caution possible as to not get involved in a bad situation. It’s definitely an area where a situation could escalate in a matter of no time.
We regret to report that this past Wednesday, that exact situation would unfold in Fort Worth, TX. A man passed away in a salvage yard as he was pinned under a car and couldn’t be rescued.
Via Fox 4, “When firefighters arrived, they found a man trapped underneath one of the cars in the salvage yard. The heavy rescue squad was called to help move the car off of the man, but his injuries were too extensive. He was pronounced dead on the scene.”
At this point, authorities say that they don’t have any reason to be suspicious of anything. For now, it seems like a simple case of a pull-a-part gone wrong.
We urge anyone who is planning to use a yard like this to take a story like this as a warning. Always make sure to double-check and make sure to be as vigilant as possible.
