There Will be a Electric Shelby Mustang Mach-E, the Internet is Losing Their Minds
For those who don’t remember the whole internet explosion just a couple of weeks ago, well, Ford might’ve been a part of a controversial decision. They didn’t necessarily do anything egregious. However, it turns out that Mustang fanatics weren’t too happy with the use of the name on the new Mustang Mach-E. For those who have been living under a rock, the Mach-E is an electric crossover similarly sized to the Ford Escape. If you’re looking for more details, they can be found right here.
For those who have been following the rage, they know that it has become a toned-down version of anger. Originally, there was a thought circulating that Ford would call the vehicle a Mach 1. Anyone who is familiar with the Mustang Mach 1 can see how this might seem out of place. It just so happened that some took it personally.
A more recent development points to the idea that there will be a Shelby variation of the Mach-E. We have absolutely no idea what that might entail just yet. However, there is a lot of talk about if this name held in high regard should be slapped on the electric car.
From what we understand, The Evo cited a talk with Ford’s Performance Chief Program Engineer, Ed Krenz. They say that he talked “at length” about the Mach-E Shelby. Apparently, he also talked about the challenges associated with bringing it to life.
As one could imagine, this has really sent some enthusiasts into a spiral. The news hasn’t been confirmed by Ford just yet. However, the watercooler talk that has been perpetuated by Krenz Really has things looking like it might become a reality.
Some might chalk this up to automotive enthusiasts just being a little bit too passionate about their vehicles. However, it does give rise to an interesting discussion. Comment sections around the web have pointed out that because Carroll Shelby passed away seven years ago now, folks are wondering how applying his name to a platform that he has nothing to do with continues to make sense. That’s a topic of discussion that we will just let you guys decide on, though.
