1,000 HP Rotary RX-7 Roars to Life on the Dyno
When it comes to the rotary engine, there are really some nasty combinations out there. When we say that these engines scream, they really do turn up the volume to a new level. With that comes a lot of potential for horsepower and therefore, we can see rotary-powered monsters ripping down the drag strip to some pretty insane times.
Some might recognize the Mazda RX-7 owned by Mike Jtineant from the Import Versus Domestic World Cup Finals. The car has been seen absolutely tearing down the quarter mile to single-digit passes on a regular basis. This time, though, it appears as if the crew is looking to make a couple of upgrades and get some things ironed out. It’s crazy how a car can look so fast, all without moving at all as it lays down massive power on the hub dyno.
As FuelTech tells us, they offer factory support for their technology. Therefore, when the team behind the Mazda needed a little bit of help, they headed to FuelTech HQ to see exactly what they could do to connect the dots on this beast of a machine.
When all is said and done, we see a smoothly running machine that’s really cranking out some major horsepower. To be more specific, it soars its way into the four-digit horsepower realm with ease. Color us impressed after witnessing such an impressive dyno session.
By following along with the video below, we get to join in at the iconic FuelTech dyno room. This screaming red RX-7 is definitely a machine that’s going to demand attention. As it wrinkles up the rear slicks and slams home impressive passes, we can’t help but fall in love with this small but mighty rocket ship. 2020 might be an odd year, but keep an eye out for this machine moving forward!
