In 2020 and beyond, we really ask a lot of our pickup trucks. Long gone are the days where manufacturers can just build a reliable vehicle that can get the job done. Instead, these days, they need to pack in all sorts of features that are borrowed from different segments.

Pickup trucks still get the job done these days. However, they might borrow the plushness from the luxury segment, the fuel efficiency from the economy segment, and even the technology from some of the other high-end vehicles in a manufacturer’s lineup.

We would be inclined to think that if these different factors weren’t offered with a pickup truck model, the likelihood that it would sell would probably decline quite a bit. Consumers really seem to want to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to picking out the truck that’s just right for them.
