After A Few Too Many Blown Pistons, This Street Outlaw Is Done With Nitrous

Daddy Dave has been a long-time proponent of nitrous oxide for adding horsepower to his engines, both when he ran Jackie’s Sonoma and when he decided to build his own car.

When it was first completed, Dave’s Goliath Chevy II featured a big-inch engine with several nitrous kits, and the car was plenty fast. The issue with the nitrous powerplant was burned pistons, a fairly common issue for engines on spray that are ran on the ragged edge, as Goliath generally is. After sacrificing a few too many pistons to the nitrous gods, Dave made the swap to a ProCharged combo, and he’s had pretty good success with it so far. The engine is a fairly basic assembly, clocking in at 540 cubic inches, and was built by the guys at SDPC from mostly off-the-shelf parts. Despite its simplicity, the engine cranked out 2,300 HP at 20 pounds of boost, and the massive ProCharger supercharger is almost certainly capable of cranking out more boost if needed.

Check out the story in the clip below, and be sure to tune in to Discovery Channel tonight to see more about Goliath’s transformation!
