All New Cars 3 “Next Generation” Extended Look

We’ve made it no secret that we are super stoked about the upcoming third installment in the Disney/Pixar Cars movie franchise, Cars 3. The latest animated feature brings the series back to its roots after an ill-advised departure in Cars 2 from the formula that made the original a cultural phenomenon.

We’re still eating up any new info we can find about the release, scheduled to hit theaters on June 16th, that one of the best sources for that is Disney’s own Disney•Pixar YouTube channel. That’s where we found this latest trailer, which features a look at the IGNTR, what seems to be a new era of Piston Cup car. There’s wind tunnel testing, what appears to be simulated on-track racing, and some actual on-track highlights that show the IGNTR laying some blistering laps down.

We also hear what sounds like the voice of Doc Hudson, the claiming yin to Lightning McQueen’s arrogant yang. Of course, the trailer teases us again with that now-infamous crash sequence that shows McQueen tumbling in slow motion down the straight away of one of the Piston Cup tracks.
