Pickers Find and Negotiate For the Holy Grail of Corvettes
If we want to look for a job that provides a different exciting adventure every day, look no further than the American Pickers. Sure, things are probably edited and spiced up just a little bit for the sake of television. However, this is a very real job that tons of other people are able to profit from every day.
One of the most exciting parts of a job like this is that they really never know what kind of treasures they’re going to stumble upon. We might even go so far as calling these guys some sort of modern-day treasure hunters.
This time, the treasure at hand is none other than a Chevrolet Corvette. This isn’t just any Corvette, either. Instead, this just so happens to be THE Corvette. We think that most who are familiar with collecting these machines would agree that a 1963 split window is pretty much the crème de la crème of Corvettes.
With such an amazing collector item at hand, the negotiation gets rather interesting. There’s a lot to consider with this. Yes, the car is incredibly sought-after. However, there are several factors that impact value. In the right condition, these cars can easily eclipse six figures at auction. However, as we know, there is an entire spectrum of conditions that make one of these cars worth more or less. This one, for example, doesn’t have the original paint. That’s certainly a downgrade in value. In addition, the engine has been sourced from another year.
The most valuable collector cars are usually those with the original engine and the ones in the best condition without being restored. However, with a machine like this, there is still a pretty tremendous value. Even though it’s not original and does need some love, it still has potential. The Pickers reflected that value with a pretty substantial offer.
By following along with the clip below from the History Channel, we get to dive into the find. When it comes to negotiating for a car like this, what is it really worth? Will the guys be able to come to terms on an acceptable price to find this Corvette a new home?
