Big Chief’s Crow vs Bird Boyz Probe Finals at Bristol’s $100k No Prep Race
Monday night, the stars of the hit Discovery Channel street racing show Street Outlaws put a whole new spin on the show when they loaded up and headed east to historic Thunder Valley Raceway in Bristol Tennessee for a huge no prep race. Joining the stars of the original show in competing for the $100,000 total purse were several stars of Street Outlaws New Orleans along with some of the biggest names in the world of no prep track racing.
After four rounds of eliminations, only two cars were left standing. Representing the 405, Big Chief rolled through the competition to find himself lined up with a formidable opponent in Jerry Bird from Street Outlaws New Orleans. For those who remember back to the first season of the New Orleans show, it’s Ironic to see the Bird Boyz Probe representing the Louisiana crew considering Jerry was basically voted off the show at one point because he couldn’t get the car safely down the street. Of course, if you follow the no prep world, you know they’ve had the car sorted out for a while now and have had a lot of success at no prep events over the past year or so.
However, as hyped as announcer Barrett Green had the crowd for the final, it was a bit anticlimactic. After laying down some fresh rubber to help their cars hook, both drivers bumped into the staging beams and blasted off when the green lights illuminated. They left together, but Big Chief pulled away and was building his lead when Jerry spun and had to lift. Chief pulled a page out of the Rubbing It In Handbook and dumped the chutes right in Bird’s face, driving home the win in emphatic fashion.
With $60,000 on the line, both cars were definitely primed for battle, but Big Chief had the better tune up for the track, putting down the power from his Butler Performance powered GTO more effectively than Bird in his Probe. Congrats to Chief and the 405 for taking home the win at one of the biggest events in Street Outlaws history.
