Breaking: Jeep Unveils Diesel Powered “Gladiator” Pickup at LA Auto Show

If you’ve had your ear to the ground around the automotive water cooler, you might have just witnessed what many people are calling Jeep’s license to print money. Ever since the departure of the Jeep Comanche, fans have been clamoring and wanting the company to bring back another pickup truck. After all, as they are known for their off-road vehicles and when you think about the market, it only makes sense that eventually, the brand would decide to do something like this and it’s now a reality. Finally, they have announced that in the model year 2020, Jeep will make its way back to the pickup truck market.

With the Gladiator, the pickup drought from the brand of nearly two and a half decades will finally come to an end. This new era will be powered by a couple of different options and, while it throws a new spin in the mix over at the Jeep camp, a lot of what you’ve come to know and love about the brand will stay consistent.

Under the hood, you will see a standard 3.6L V6 with the option to kick it up to a 3.0L Ecodiesel v6 shifted through either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed auto. The truck is listed at being able to haul around 7,650lbs of towing capacity along with a 1,600lb payload rating.

As you’ve become used to with a Jeep, the doors will come off and there will be a soft top option. Furthermore, the Rubicon package that Jeep fans have all fallen for will come with a plethora of off-road goodies, just in case you were planning on treating this thing like a Jeep! As of now, the full details are still being held close to home but from what we’ve managed to gather already, it looks like Jeep is taking an exciting leap forward with this one. If you care to catch the unveiling, you can see the whole thing from LA down below!
