Bubba Wallace Appears to Retaliate at High Speed After Kyle Larson Puts Him Into the Wall

While some professional drivers seem like they can do no wrong, sometimes, situations remind us that these competitors are only human. Sometimes, this means that quick decision-making out on the track will end up with a result that leaves one driver upset with another. With that, it’s not uncommon that we see a couple of drivers have it out in the pits following a race.

However, this past weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the NASCAR Cup Series race, competitor Kyle Larson made an aggressive move that clearly didn’t sit well with his competitor, Bubba Wallace. While Wallace was racing on the outside of Larson, Larson’s number 5 car closed the door on Wallace, pushing him into the outside wall as a result.

While the ethics of Larson’s move are debatable, what happens next is something that had most fans shocked and is something that, if intentional, is widely seen as a massive no-no. It would appear to be an act of revenge, Wallace would swerve his number 45 Toyota Camry down the track at a high rate of speed, slamming into the rear quarter panel of the number 5 car and sending Larson into the wall hard.

Following the incident, in an interview, Wallace said that he simply lost the steering, insisting that the move wasn’t retaliation and didn’t happen on purpose. However, Monday, he issued an apology, saying that “My behavior does not align with the core values that are shared by 23XI Racing and our partners.”

Below, we see the replay of the controversial incident that has NASCAR fans clamoring for strict punishment for Wallace. It seems as if the consensus, including the announcers during the race, I think that this move was incredibly dangerous, especially with NASCAR’s well-documented issues with the new car that they have been running that has knocked several racers out of competition for the season due to head injuries.

Ironically, the number 45 that Wallace has been using was vacated by his teammate, Kurt Busch, who is retiring because of a head injury sustained earlier this season. Photo Credit – nypost
