Cancer Survivor Drives His ’68 Camaro For The First Time in 5 Years
Sometimes, life has a way of throwing us a massive curveball. Even for the nicest people out there, something like cancer doesn’t take time to discriminate. It can end up affecting anybody in any position. It doesn’t matter how good you are to others or how much money you have. The disease strikes when we’re least expecting it.
In the case of Denny Place, cancer would occupy a substantial chunk of his life. For the span of 15 years or so, he has been going to war with his diagnosis. As one might imagine, lifestyle is drastically changed with such a situation. Between the treatments and the financial burden that such a diagnosis has on somebody, it can mean that certain things get put on the back burner.
For example, when you’re fighting for your life, maybe a project car isn’t exactly a priority.
In this one, we follow along with Street Racing Channel as they tell us just that story. Cancer didn’t discriminate against Place. It might’ve felt like he was in the world’s worst position.
While his friends couldn’t fix cancer, they could try to do the next best thing. They would make his old school muscle machine a driver once again. In fact, his car was brought back to life in order to return a favor. This is a favor that we would probably guess that Denny simply did out of the goodness of his heart. Based on how grateful everyone seems for him, we don’t think Denny was expecting anything in return.
He got something, anyway.
Because of the help of some grateful folks, Denny Place got to drive his 1968 Camaro for the first time in 5 Years. The people behind Street Racing Channel who helped to get it running tell us “It was a sweet moment, and we are blessed to be able to help him get it back on the road and share it with you guys.”
By following along with the video below, we get to watch some of the overhauling that the car went through in order to come back to life once again. It’s simply amazing to see just how big of a smile can be put on somebody’s face with something as simple as an automobile and how hard some folks will selflessly work to help get it there.
