Car-Obsessed Man Parks Vehicle In Living Room During Hurricane

Just a few weeks back, in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, we brought you the story of one BMW owner going to extremes to protect his beloved car from the flood waters that inundated much of the Houston area. That guy waded through waist deep water to jack his car on ever-growing stacks of concrete blocks, just managing to keep the car above the cresting flood levels.

Last year, another BMW owner also went to some pretty crazy extremes to keep his car safe from Hurricane Matthew as it threatened his home of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Randy Jalil decided instead of fleeing the storm for safer locales, he would simply bring his car inside. For most, that would mean pulling the car into the garage, but not for Jalil. Instead, he literally opened up his home to his 1988 BMW M3 and drove it right into his living room, thanks to the French doors that adorn the front of his home. The double-wide doors allowed him to simply drive the car straight into his living room, where he cozied up on the couch just feet away from his prized M series while the massive tropical storm churned its way up the coast of Florida and moved on up the east coast.

Randy had one photo of him sharing breakfast cereal with his car that caught fire and became a bit of a viral sensation, though the context was never really attached to the photo. Instead, it became more about a man and his car having the kind of bond most people look for with a romantic partner. If they’d only known he went so far to protect his ride, the photo may have spread even farther.

The storm passed and Randy rolled his ride back out into the driveway, none the worse for wear thankfully. He says he would do the same again, and just may have pulled his car back inside a few weeks ago for Hurricane Irma, another massive storm that blitzed the state of Florida. We’ll have to keep an eye out for that video as well.
