Cars Like This Are Why We Have Trust Issues
When approaching a drag race, you should never trust what your eyes are seeing. on the surface, the four-door Chevrolet Nova that goes by the name of “Sweet Pea” might not look like much. Heck, the car has a thick coat of patina and even body modifications like a front lip that was fashioned out of garden trimming. Not exactly a racing machine, right?
However, all of these small details from the bible sitting on the dashboard to the overall appearance that you see on the exterior all go into making this thing look like it might have been something that your grandmother would take to church every Sunday and maybe stop on the way back to grab some groceries with.
However, behind that lack of shine definitely sits something that’s really worth talking about. Under the hood is your typical junkyard LS swap, a 6.0L to be more exact, fashioned together with what the owner, Ray Gardocki says is a cheap set of off-the-shelf rods and pistons. Other than that, the car has all the usual supporting mods and is paired with a VS Racing c480 turbo. Long story short, when push comes to shove, this is definitely a car that you’re not going to want to get on the wrong side of no matter how unsuspecting it looks.
If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be taken to the scene in Bowling Green, Kentucky as the machine really opens up a can of whoop ass on the no prep surface as Street Car Takeover put on a little bit of a race the night before their main event. At the end of the day, it’s incredibly fun to watch this thing as it blasts past a whole collection of cars that, upon a first look, would appear to be able to easily conquer the four-door. Reality wood pan out differently, though.
