Chevy S10 Truck Slams into the Wall at a No Prep
One of the draws of no prep racing is the constant chance of a crash. Whether we want to admit it or not, the chance of seeing a car, even one we are a big fan of, slip-sliding into the wall is a part of why we go to these events. If you need proof, look no farther than the view counters on crash videos vs those of great side-by-side racing. There can be theater quality video with surround sound audio of some great racing and it will have a small percentage of the views a dark, grainy cell phone video of a crash.
Its just human nature, and it’s a big part of the reason no prep racing has developed such a massive following, and as you will see in this video from Urban Hillbilly videos, the fans usually get what they come to see. This small tire Chevy S10 was lined up with a stout first gen Camaro, and knew it would take everything he could muster to run with the F-Body, so he may have been mashing just a little too hard on the loud pedal when the truck broke traction down track and began to get out of shape. The driver had almost no warning, though, before the truck snaps sideways and heads toward the wall in the right lane.
He rolled out of the throttle and whipped the wheel to the left, and it looks like he might be able to save it, but the rear end kicked back out to the side and it was all over but the crunch. The truck plowed into the wall pretty hard, but it was a bit of a glancing blow that sent the truck spinning, coming to rest against the wall.
The driver was uninjured, luckily, but the same can’t be said for his pickup, which looks to need quite a bit of work before it returns to duty on the track. Hopefully the damage is limited to components and body parts that can be replaced easily and the frame itself is still straight and good to go.
