Clay Millican Sets Track Record and Powers to Number 1 in Houston
Drummond, Tennessee native Clay Millican reset the track elapsed time record at Houston Motorsports Park to claim the #1 spot in qualifying in Top Fuel for the NHRA Spring Nationals.
Millican, one of the most likable personalities in all of drag racing, drove his Parts Plus and Great Clips sponsored fueler to a stellar 3.722 elapsed time to slide ahead of Antron Brown, who was one thousandth of a second slower, qualifying with a 3.723 to go into eliminations. Millican would go on to the semifinals, where he lost traction to eventual runner up Steve Torrence. The solid weekend moved Clay up to 7th in points, putting him solidly in the Top 10 as the season enters the grueling summer schedule, when the temps go up and the win lights are harder to come by on a consistent basis.
