Crazy Demonstration Shows How Fatal an Improperly Balanced Trailer Can Be
Pulling a trailer might seem like a pretty simple task, right? You make sure it’s fastened to your truck and that your load is strapped down and that’s it, right? Well, not exactly.
You see, over the years, those who have pulled a lot of loads can tell you that there are plenty of nuances to really get down. Without thinking about these intricacies of pulling a trailer, things can tend to get a little bit dangerous. If somebody doesn’t take their time and make sure that everything is just right, it could even end up in an accident.
One example of something to pay attention to when pulling a trailer is load distribution. This might seem like something that could be easy to brush off. However, we think that exactly the opposite might be smart. In fact, making sure that you get your load distribution correct should be on the top of the checklist when it comes to strapping down things on a trailer.
Essentially, the concept is that too much weight on the front of the trailer can end up weighing down the back of the tow vehicle, in this case, a Ford Mustang. This will definitely impact the way that your vehicle is able to steer. However, too much weight far to the rear of the trailer can end up having the inverse effect as well. Should the weight be distributed too far toward the rear of the trailer, a little bit of wiggle can turn into a downright deadly sway.
Down in the video below, we get a demonstration that really shows us how this all works out first hand. After seeing this demo, we get the feeling that a lot of people are probably going to think twice about how they strap down their load in the future. A couple of extra minutes to make sure that everything is done right could be the difference between a stress-free experience and an expensive wreck.
