In Depth Tour of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Reveals it has LS Power
There are a lot of cars rolling around that many would see as iconic. Perhaps, one of the most widely recognized vehicles in America is a little bit odd. When we think of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, we think of a vehicle that most people have probably come across in their lifetimes. As such a big piece of marketing for one of the biggest brands of the country, it could be hard to miss. We combine that with the fact that it’s a rolling hotdog and it’s not hard to see how it’s such an attention-getter. In fact, it might have just become a cornerstone of Americana over the years.
However, while most of us are familiar with the vehicle, not too many of us know what makes it up. Luckily for the curious mind, SaabKyle04 had the opportunity to dissect just that.
In a unique video, we get the chance to go over the vehicle from top to bottom. Essentially, it’s described as a fiberglass hot dog sitting on top of a truck frame. However, bringing this thing together wasn’t exactly that straightforward. Instead, it seems to encompass different components from different cars. In turn, it also houses a little bit of custom work to make it all come together.
As one might imagine, creating something like this isn’t exactly a project that has much of a roadmap. It looks someone had to get a little bit creative in making this particular vision come to life.
One of the most interesting factors, perhaps, is that an unlikely power source sits under the hood of the Wienermobile. In fact, it has a 6.0L LS engine. When people say that there has literally been an LS swapped into everything, we don’t think that anyone thought that it would go this far.
