Elon Musk Successfully Sends His Own Tesla Roadster Into Space!
If you’ve been keeping tabs on Elon Musk and the SpaceX crew, you know that they’ve been up to some pretty amazing ventures, trying to take the idea of space travel, something those previously targeted at research purposes and making the leap to try and commercialize it. I think that eventually, most of us would agree that being able to commercialize space travel would be the necessary next step in humanity in relation to the exploration of the great beyond. Therefore, you had better keep your eyes peeled because right in front of them, you’re watching history unfold.
This time, we watch Falcon Heavy launch into space, a rocket that SpaceX claims is “the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two,” meaning that not only are we making those strides to go deeper into space but are also simultaneously creating vessels that will allow more weight to be hauled to whatever other planet or we need them to be in while doing so in attempt to also reduce the cost and upgrade the longevity that you will see out of a space traveler like this.
Space.com quoted Musk when asked about the Tesla Roadster being sent into space and he told them that “We decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel,” he said. “The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing [the song] ‘Space Oddity,’ on a billion-year elliptic Mars orbit.”
Furthermore, Space.com also reports that this will be the first vehicle designed for driving on Earth that has been launched into space. Three cameras on the car will be sending back imagery from the amazing journey so that we have a little something more to sink our teeth into, as if all of this wasn’t overwhelming enough. Heck, maybe when the aliens find the car, they’ll report back and give us a little sneak peek at some of their very own racing technology.
