Elon Musk’s Boring Company Ready To Launch Futuristic High-Speed Tunnels In Los Angeles

If you’ve had your ear to the ground recently, you’ve probably caught wind of a project that Elon Musk has been working on that goes by the name of the “Boring Company.” Basically, what the company is all about is creating an infrastructure under the ground in order to make a more efficient transportation system that will allow individuals to travel at speeds up 155 mph, taking travel as we know it and converting it into something entirely different. It seems as if soon, it will be time for those mumblings to stop and for action to be taken.

It has been announced on the company’s website that as of December 10th, the first ride to this underground transportation system will be underway. While the system does eventually plan on having cars that can carry passengers and bicycles alike, for now, it seems as if it will be tested by providing a track system for motor vehicles to ride on. Essentially, you drive your car into the transit system and it will carry you to where you need to get to.

The 2-mile span of track in Hawthorne, Los Angeles that is debuting later on this year will be open for free rides for the public the very next day. The idea here is to demonstrate effectiveness before putting in a more widespread effort with the eventual goal of having one of these stations almost every major building in order to make commutes faster and more efficient across-the-board. It’ll be interesting to see how this little experiment goes and how the steps following it begin to unfold.

Perhaps, it’s only a matter of time before Elon Musk and company redesign the entire transportation system as we know it from cars to public transportation and everything in between. Will the way that we travel even be recognizable in just a decade or two? Only time will tell!
