Entire California CarMax Lot Goes up in Flames
When it comes to used cars sales, CarMax is a pretty solid pick. Their way of doing business has revolutionized the game completely. It has given used car purchasers the reassurance they need when purchasing a used vehicle. The business has kind of cleaned up the used car dealer reputation. Instead of wandering into a questionable establishment, they strive to provide low mileage vehicles that have been checked over and brought up to par, if necessary. Today, though, one of their locations suffered a major setback. In fact, it looks like they’ll probably be out of commission for a while.
We’ve seen a lot of bizarre things happen at car lots lately. This has come in the form of damaged cars to the thieves who decided they needed the wheels off of a whole row of SUVs. However, we don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this in our 7-year existence. An entire car lot caught on fire in Bakersfield, California today.
The scene was insane as the whole lot appeared to go up in flames. When all was said and done, the count of vehicles claimed by the blaze was 86. Of that 86, 26 were said to be destroyed while 60 more were damaged. Early estimates are setting the loss to the company at $2.1 million. That’s quite a day.

Officials said the blaze may have been sparked by a semi-truck dragging an object against the road. This was believed to have ignited some nearby grass before spiraling out of control. Over 20 acres of brush and grass were said to be claimed by the fire as well. This just goes to show how a series of unfortunate events can really lead to an out of control situation. All that’s left to do now is pick up the pieces.
Luckily, as of now, there have been no reported injuries in the incident.
