Farmtruck And AZN Check Out Jeff Lutz’ 57 Chevy For The First Time.
You already know by now we’re big fans of Jeff Lutz here at Speed Society. The Drag Week legend has done it all and has some great stories to tell about the journey. When he’s not busy kicking ass on the week-long roadtrip from hell, he’s building some of the most badass hotrods on the planet, either for his clients or himself or heading out west to lend his welding and fabrication skills to the guys from Street Outlaws, while occasionally showing up at race night in the 405 to have a little fun with the Top 10 list.
Last summer, Lutz finished his latest drag week build, the gorgeous orange 1957 you see in the video below. He had the car completed just in time for Drag Week, but the hurricanes in Florida kept his co-pilot from being able to make the trip, so Lutz didn’t compete in the event. However, his racecars are never one-trick ponies, so Lutz headed to a few other events to get some data on the car and get familiar with how it behaves. One such event was the Street Outlaws live event that aired a few weeks ago on Discovery Channel. We all saw Lutz go for a bit a ride there after the car lost traction crossing the notoriously disruptive tunnel under the track at Thunder Valley Raceway.
Before the mishap, though, Farmtruck and AZN caught up with Jeff and his crew in the pits and checked out the car, with AZN even climbing inside for a closer look at the amenities inside the car, including the horn, which is required for Drag Week competition. The FNA Duo love the car, though the crew guy bumping the engine over to run through the valves scared AZN as he sat in the passenger seat.
Lutz already has the car back up and running, though the nose is still in primer, although we have to assume that will be addressed soon. Last time I checked, however, primer didn’t slow a car down, so don’t think Lutz is any slower than he was before he dinged the car up at Bristol.
