Ferrari F50 Crashes In The U.K.

The F50 may be one of the less popular special series Ferraris but seeing one on the side of the road in this condition is still a terrible sight to behold. The crash took place on Wednesday on a stretch of road near Brackley in the U.K.

According to local reports, the driver lost control of the V-12 supercar which ended up sliding off the road and crashing into a lamppost. Fortunately no one was injured, and no other vehicles were involved.

The damage looks severe but we hope the car is still salvageable as only 349 F50s were ever built, making it a rarer sight than the later Enzo and LaFerrari special series cars.

Launched in 1995 as the successor to the F40, the F50 is powered by a 4.7-liter V-12 that’s closely linked to the design of Ferrari’s Formula One engine from the 1990 season. Peak output is 520 horsepower, which is enough to see the F50 sprint to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 mph.

This particular example was believed to be worth more than £850,000 (approximately $1.36 million), which if accurate would make this the most expensive single vehicle accident in the U.K. since actor Rowan Atkinson’s McLaren F1 crash back in 2011.
