Fireball Camaro vs Grim Reaper in New York
When he’s not busy picking off the biggest names on the Street Outlaws Top 10 list, Ryan Martin travels around the country with his badass twin turbocharged Fireball Camaro, putting on a show for fans from coast to coast. Not too long ago, we ran into Ryan in Michigan where he was racing the nitrous-huffing Reaper Camaro that also calls the 405 home. Reaper took the win in their only run in Michigan, a trip that was shortened due to inclement weather unfortunately.
From there, Ryan headed further north and east to New York, where he faced off with another reaper-themed F-Body, this time a early model Trans Am known as the Grim Reaper. This Reaper, another nitrous-huffing hotrod, hails from the New York area, but we don’t know much else about the sinister Firebird unfortunately. It does look amazing and sounds healthy, so we were excited to see how it stacked up against the Fireball Camaro.
After both cars lay down some nice fresh rubber with their long, smoky burnouts, they back up and approach the starting line carefully. Once they’re both staged up, the tree comes down and away they go, with the Fireball Camaro taking a big early lead and holding on to take the win. It’s hard to say from the starting line perspective, but it looked as though The Grim Reaper may have been reeling the boosted Fireball car, but that would be unlikely unless Ryan had to roll out of the throttle, as turbo cars rarely get outrun on the top end by nitrous cars. Of course, stranger things have happened, but without a camera up top, all we can say for sure is that Ryan did get to the stripe first, turning on the winlight atop the scoreboard in his lane. It looked like the Grim Reaper left a little soft as well, maybe they will run again soon and we’ll see if they turn the Trans Am up off the line a little bit!
