Flat Tires May Be A Thing Of The Past
When it comes to driving, of course, getting a flat tire is just all part of the process that could come up. It’s something that many would rather avoid and some have been lucky enough to never have to experience, however, as luck would have it, it seems to be a phenomenon that’s far too common. We’re kind of surprised that technology hasn’t put something in place to make getting a flat tire a thing of the past yet. Well, in the near future, that concept might be something that becomes a reality. In fact, according to this report, it’s a lot closer than we might think.
While using airless tires is definitely a realm that researchers have been diving into, this time, we aren’t looking at airless tires at all. Instead, with this development, we take a look at rubber that describes itself as self-healing. Basically, what that means, is that if you continue driving after puncturing a tire, in theory, the rubber will begin to break down and rebond to itself. If that sounds like something out of science fiction movie, it’s definitely something that we could picture being in one of those flicks, however, this isn’t a matter of science fiction but instead something that could be very real within just a couple of years, if not sooner!
Follow along with the video down below that tells about the technology that has been in the making for some time now and isn’t necessarily new but apparently, takes a while to figure out when it comes to rubber. What do you think of this technology and do you think that we will see it widespread throughout the entire market before long? Only time will be able to tell if this sort of thing ever comes around full circle, but if it does, it could certainly be something that weighs a lot lighter on your mind the next time that you want to take a road trip.
