Ford Offering to Pay 3 Months Of Car Payments Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak
As the spread of Coronavirus continues, most of America has been forced into retooling daily life. Widespread closures continue to sweep the nation. Just yesterday, the latest to close their doors were America’s Big Three Automakers. Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler are halting production for at least a couple of weeks.
As we don’t really know quite what to expect, America is doing its best to move forward. While there are lots of things that we can’t control, there are some things that we can. Ford seems to be jumping into action with a couple of forward-thinking ideas.
In their latest move, the brand has promised that they will cover three months’ worth of car payments for new buyers. It also seems like they’re encouraging dealers to sell remotely. This might even include pickup and delivery service, depending on the area.
The “Built to Lend a Hand” program announced Thursday will apply to those who buy a new 2019 or 2020 model year vehicle. As mentioned, Ford will cover three months of payments and allow customers to defer three months as well. This means that someone could theoretically be driving around in a vehicle for half of a year before making a payment. The program won’t include 2020 F-Series Super Duty trucks.
Kumar Galhotra, Ford North America president made a statement, starting “Our dealers are incredibly connected to their communities.” She continued, “They’re willing to lend a hand by doing whatever it takes to help our customers in this time of need.”
Modern problems require modern solutions. For now, it looks like Ford is looking to incentivize customers to try and buy new vehicles. We won’t know for sure just how hard the auto industry is hit until the dust settles. We would assume that buying a car isn’t the first thing on most peoples’ minds right now, though.
