Ford Shows Off New “Max Recline Seats” That Fold Like a Transformer For Your Comfort

It’s pretty amazing how far pickup trucks have come from the days of old. These days, there is almost no discernible difference between high-end trucks and their luxury car competitors. In fact, we find some of the plushest accessories available on the entire market packed into these trucks.

Between the technology and the attention to detail with things like materials, even something like a Ford F-150 might feel like a high-end Mercedes-Benz. Even though this may be the case, as trucks have become something sought after by luxury buyers, manufacturers are still going to continue to push the limits to see just how far they can take these things. At the end of the day, where there are customers to pay for more accessories, there’s probably going to be a team looking to create more accessories for that customer to choose from.

At first glance, a recent feature added by Ford, in their “Max recline seats” might seem like sort of a gimmick. On first thought, laying down in your truck doesn’t seem like something that’s going to happen all that frequently. However, when we take an opportunity to mull it over, perhaps, this could be something that eventually catches on. Just speaking from personal experience, I know that there have been a couple of times driving when I could’ve snuck away for a quick nap.

There are definitely situations where maybe it would be a good idea to sleep in a vehicle. At the end of the day, trucks still are designed with getting a job done in mind, and sometimes, at the end of that job, you’re just too exhausted to continue on. In order to accommodate that, Ford went to a new level, creating seats that lay entirely flat so that the person sitting in them can lay down and go to sleep. Unlike a traditional seat that will leave odd and uncomfortable gaps, this configuration is supposed to be more accomodating for sleep.

Below, we get to see how exactly the seats work as they shift in an entire handful of directions so that they become more like a bed instead of a recliner seat. Is this something that you could see catching on or is it just a gimmick that will eventually fall by the wayside?
